10 Things I Do Everyday for Healthy, Glowing Skin:

  1. Herbal tea for hydration

I drink at least 2 big mugs of herbal tea plus lots of water throughout the day. My favorite is homemade ginger mint tea which I make by boiling fresh mint leaves and chunks of ginger. Ginger is loaded with antioxidants and is highly anti-inflammatory. Mint is also full of antioxidants and is very healing and brightens the skin.

  1. Do skincare routine

I start the morning off by doing my skincare routine (or as I like to call my beauty ritual) which includes my eye-cream, serum, and moisturizer and SPF. Keeping it simple is the way to go.

  2. Moisturize entire body from head to toe

It is important to remember our skin is one large organ and treating just one area of it (eg. the face) isn't going to give us the optimal results we are striving for. Applying lotion or oils to the whole body will result in your complexion glowing and looking its most radiant. Recognizing the interconnectedness of our body helps with mind-body connection and improves self awareness. Your skin will thank you!

  1. Sleep with a satin pillowcase

Sleeping with a satin or silk pillowcase prevents friction not only from skin to pillow contact but also hair to pillow contact which helps minimize wrinkles overtime plus prevents hair breakage.

  1. Wear organic mineral makeup

I wear organic mineral makeup that nourishes and protects my skin as well as allows it to breathe. Lots of conventional makeup brands (even some the high-end ones) contain irritants and pore clogging ingredients that don't benefit the skin and result in dull, unbalanced skin. Mineral makeup will almost always have either titanium dioxide or zinc oxide for sun protection.

  1. Light daily exercise

It can be tricky to incorporate workouts in our busy lives every day of the week. Keeping it light is a good way to maintain motivation and still reap the benefits of having a fit, healthy body. Light exercise is a great way to detoxify the skin and get your blood moving. Just 20 minutes a day can make a huge difference!

  1. Take care of your mind

A healthy mind is immediately reflected on the skin. Making sure you always have something to look forward to and be grateful for plus releasing endorphins and dopamine is the perfect recipe for a healthy mind. A few of my favorite ways to do this include dancing, spending time in nature, cooking for loved ones, and gardening.

  1. Snack on almonds

Almonds are rich in vitamin E and healthy fats which do wonders for the skin! They are also super easy to munch on while youre watching one of your favorite shows! You can expect your skin to feel more hydrated and have better protection against the damaging effects of free radicals caused by sun damage, pollution and cigarette smoke.

  1. Follow the Mediterranean diet

I'm Lebanese on my moms side so I grew up eating a pretty awesome diet. There's a huge variety of foods to eat and the Mediterranean diet (Lebanese specifically) consists of mostly beans, fresh veggies, smaller meat portions and a lot of olive oil which is amazing for your skin. Olive oil, (which is the base of pretty much every Lebanese dish) when consumed, provides systemic benefits that are unmatched compared to topical application since nutrients are able to reach the deeper layers of the skin through the bloodstream. Increased skin suppleness, collagen & elastin preservation, and reduced inflammation are only a few of the amazing benefits this liquid gold has to offer.

  1. Oil cleanse skin

I oil cleanse every night to thoroughly remove dirt, makeup and pollution from my skin. The light sheen of moisture it leaves on my skin keeps it hydrated while I sleep so my skin can regenerate itself overnight leading to a happy complexion in the morning. I prefer oil cleansing over a gel cleanser at the end of the day because it doesn't strip my skin of its natural oils and is so gentle and balancing for all skin types. They're also so effective at removing makeup!
